The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015) govern the management of health, safety, and welfare when carrying out construction projects. Before - the planning stage
As principal contractors, we have specific duties under the 2015 CDM regulations. We are required to plan, manage, monitor and coordinate the construction phase of a project.
The process begins before the project reaches the site with safety planning and methodology development. By liaising closely with the customer and attending site visits, our team gains an understanding of the project’s physical requirements and the operational considerations for managing safety.
Each potential challenge and risk is assessed. We consider criteria such as ingress and egress, site hazards and site layout. Then, we draw up a methodology combining the right expertise, skills, and equipment to minimise risk, maximise efficiency, and assign responsibility for safety at every delivery stage.
We must also ensure that suitable site inductions are provided and that reasonable steps are taken to prevent unauthorised access.
Through the application of due diligence, we co-ordinate the AIS industrial services team, the customer’s team and any third parties on site – to verify their skills and experience.
We consult and engage with all project personnel from the outset to help ensure their health and safety, as well as that of others.
During - the implementation stage
Our CDMÂ role means that, throughout project implementation, we have health and safety responsibility for all activity on site, even if it falls outside our remit. Ensuring a consistently risk-assessed and controlled environment for all parties is part of this.
Each step of the way, our team will produce CDM regulation paperwork to record the measures that have been put in place. This limits the risk and ensures effective communication of health and safety procedures.
All elements of our service delivery adhere to our strict CDM controls – including any M&E services and logistical support we provide.
After – the review stage
Each successful CDM-compliant project is a learning opportunity.
Once CDM management has been delivered in accordance with best practices and reviewed in collaboration with our team, we will have a blueprint for health and safety excellence on all future projects.
