A case study in precision and expertise
AIS Vanguard has a proven track record of working with prestigious companies, consistently delivering exceptional results for them and meeting and surpassing high industry standards. One such collaboration was with Victoria and Albert Baths. A leading manufacturer of luxury bathroom products for almost thirty years, they are renowned for their innovative designs and craftsmanship.
This project perfectly showcases our ability to deliver turnkey solutions for complex manufacturing facilities, as almost every one of our wide range of service offerings was brought into play.
The vision
Victoria and Albert Baths needed a comprehensive installation for a new ceramics manufacturing facility dedicated to producing bespoke, high-end bathroom sanitaryware. The project would involve the installation of an intricate array of machinery and equipment; everything from mixing tanks and moulding lines to drying ovens, spray cells, kilns, and packing units.
Setting a benchmark for turnkey installations
We were entrusted with full project oversight, including lift-and-shift operations, mechanical and electrical installations, and fulfilling the role of Principal Contractor under the CDM Regulations 2015. Our role extended beyond simply lifting and installing equipment; we acted as a trusted partner, ensuring every detail aligned with the client’s vision.
This comprehensive scope—on a project valued at £3.7 million— demonstrates our versatility and commitment to delivering a seamless, high-quality solution, but it also illustrates just how much trust our Fortune Brand clients place in us.
Managing complexity and delivering excellence
Over 14 months, with the main installation phase lasting 8 months, AIS Vanguard managed a huge team of experts including project managers, health and safety specialists, riggers, mechanical and electrical engineers, and pipefitters. This collaborative effort also involved coordinating with a range of subcontractors, including:
- King & Moffatt for medium-temperature hot water pipework
- Robey Engineering for wastewater and compressed air systems
- Rilmac for ductwork insulation
- Ward Air for ductwork
- Industrial Construction for civil works
- Profreeze for air conditioning installation
Key equipment used during the installation included a 12-tonne Valla, 13-tonne JMG, 25/35 Versa-Lift, 7-tonne and 3-tonne forklifts, scissor lifts, and cherry pickers. This diverse range of tools underlines our technical expertise in handling large-scale, high-stakes projects.
Facing and overcoming challenges
One of the biggest challenges of the project was the delayed arrival of machinery from Italian OEMs. This required us to adapt our installation process dynamically to ensure the project stayed on track despite these interruptions.
With multiple dependencies and complex schedules, AIS Vanguard navigated these challenges by maintaining an agile and responsive programme. By prioritising stakeholders’ needs and adapting to unforeseen delays, the successful completion of this project highlighted the team’s expertise in managing intricate, large-scale installations with precision and professionalism.
