Who is it today?
A Day in the life of….Keith Piercewright, Group Sales Manager.
What does your typical day look like, Keith?
I normally speak to Darren Jones at our Tipton office around 8.30-09.00 to let him know what my plans are for the day. We’re constantly on the phone to each other concerning quotations and new opportunities.
We usually meet up several times a week to handle site visits that hopefully provide the Birmingham branch with good quality enquiries.
At the moment we have quite a few large enquiries on the go and, for me, being involved in these from start to finish is quite rewarding from an engineering point of view.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I find the constant change in customer requirements from project to project quite rewarding; this is probably down to my mechanical engineering background! I tend to learn something new every single day.
Over my time with AIS, I’ve noticed a big change in the knowledge of our clients. By this I mean their attention to detail when describing specific project opportunities.
What are the biggest challenges you face?
This is usually walking into an environment in which I have very little experience to look at an engineering opportunity. I always use the “shut up and listen” way of handling any initial concerns I may have and make as many notes as possible before coming up with options for the client.
What can AIS Vanguard offer clients old and new?
Without question, we have some very talented individuals working for our company and I know that our customers can rely on these people to provide a solution to any problem.
AIS still retains the image of being very professional in our field of industry with our clients, this is proven by the amount of repeat business we have as a group.
What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
Well, I tend to do more now than when I was younger!
I go to as many gigs as possible. This year alone I have The Stones, Clapton, Train, Level42, Flaming Lips, Weller, Steve Miller Band, Richard Ashcroft, Toto, Brand New Heavies, Primal Scream, Rich Hall. Then we go from one extreme to the other…The Marriage of Figaro at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden and even the occasional ballet!
I love watching England play cricket and rugby, and I am a fan of Northampton Saints (I actually played for them in the mid-eighties!). Being a ‘Brummie’, I also support The Villa.
P.S. I almost forgot…spending time with my four grandchildren!
